It was celebrations all round in London on 14th September as the winners of the Hallmark Care Home Awards were announced during a glittering awards ceremony held at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel.

The awards, which were presented by television presenter Matt Baker, recognise team members who have demonstrated excellence within their field of work. The awards evening is an opportunity to recognise and award those particular employees who go above and beyond and are outstanding in their everyday roles.

It is a lengthy process to be shortlisted for the final. In the initial stages, nominees from each care home are chosen by residents, relatives and team members to be put forward for the eleven awards categories. These include Carer of the Year to Care Chef and Dementia Care Champion. Nominees are then interviewed and a panel of judges decide on the finalists. Prior to the national final, each nominee has their hard work celebrated at local awards ceremonies.

Connect2Care is delighted to announce that Apprentice Care Assistant, Erlinda Collins at Admiral Court Care Home in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, was awarded Carer of the Year! Erlinda not only makes life “amazing for Hallmark residents” but also works alongside her team, supporting them by ensuring they have everything they need to deliver the highest standard of care.

Nicola Hopkins, National Relationship Manager at Connect2care, presented the Rising Star Award to winner Tom Thacker from Cherry Tree Care Home in Caldicot. Tom has a large range of responsibilities and delivers every single one to the highest quality. What matters most to Tom is “turning someone’s bad day into a good one”.

Commenting on the awards, Nicola said: “It is fantastic to celebrate the successes of these individuals in the care home sector. It is so important to recognise all those who deliver the highest standards of relationship-centred service to residents through their role.  These awards recognise those who excel in their field and contribute to the outstanding care delivered to residents. Massive congratulations to all the winners and runners up.”

Hallmark is celebrating 21 years of excellence in care. It is a family-run provider of multi-award-winning care homes, where residents are supported to live an active and fulfilled life. Hallmark approached C2C about sponsoring the award due to our fantastic partnership with them. C2C started working with Hallmark in March 2017, working with them from a C2C and HIT perspective, offering support with Functional Skills qualifications when required.
